#T4DTourX: Interviewing with Confidence

 In Voices of Diversity

I had the pleasure of meeting a senior undergrad student from Claflin University during our recent tour stop at South Carolina State University. Within a few minutes into our conversation, we discussed an exciting yet unexpected common bond.  Next week, she will attend an admission interview with my alma mater, Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. We discussed important interviewing skills that were highlighted during the T4D Interviewing Skills workshop. One important tip that we discussed I want to share with you: Demonstrate confidence!

Direct eye contact, a firm handshake and succinct affirmative answers give the appearance of a well-prepared candidate. The interviewer can negatively perceive nervous energy therefore being optimistic throughout your interview will provide a positive and lasting impression. Remember, confidence is a characteristic that will carry you far in your journey as a future health care professional.
